Questions people ask before they book
Is a village airport taxi cheaper than pre-booking?
Usually not for an airport. A taxi runs on a meter, so traffic, the time of day and the route all change the price, and some apps add surge pricing at 4am or in the rain. A pre-booked private hire transfer is one fixed price agreed before you leave: Steyning to Gatwick is £80 and Littlehampton is £90, whatever the roads do.
What's the difference between a taxi and private hire?
A taxi (hackney carriage) can be hailed in the street or picked up at a rank and charges by the meter. Private hire must be booked in advance through a licensed operator, which is how the price gets fixed first. Sussex Airlink is private hire: you book, we agree the price, and a named driver turns up.
Can I get an airport taxi from a village at 4am?
Yes, and it costs the same as at 4pm. We run 24 hours, and a real person answers the phone any hour.
Do you do the journey home from the airport as well?
Yes. Coming home, your driver waits in arrivals with your name on a board, your flight is tracked, and the first hour of waiting from the moment you land is free. The price is the same in both directions.
Is the airport drop-off charge included?
Yes. Gatwick's £10 and Heathrow's £7 drop-off charges are already inside our fares, so you never see them.
How many people and bags fit?
Our normal cars take four people and three big cases. An estate (£10 more) takes four or five cases. Six of you with a buggy is a people carrier, £30 more.
